Tenshoji Temple (Takojizo)
Tenshoji Temple is known for the tale of a Buddhist priest and an octopus that protected Kishiwada.
During the 16th century, Kishiwada Castle was attacked by warriors from the Kii province. Just as the castle was poised to fall, a manifestation of an octopus (tako) and priest (the bodhisattva Jizo) appeared and drove them away. Since then, the temple has revered Jizo.
