100 most famous mountains

Mt. Tsukuba is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan. The course (approx. 40 km) to enjoy the view is located on the former Tsukuba railroad line, which is closed to cars and dotted with rest areas in former station buildings, making it an easy course suitable for beginners. The Mt. Tsukuba Hill Climb Course (approx. 25 km) is also located along the route, and can be enjoyed by a variety of people, from beginners to cyclists who love hills.

A course around Kasumigaura,
which accounts for 1/3 of
Ibaraki Prefecture

The lakeside road along Kasumigaura, which covers about 35% of Ibaraki Prefecture, is a cycling road (Kasumigaura round-the-lake course: about 125 km, short round-the-lake course: about 90 km), where you can enjoy cycling while viewing the blue sky and sparkling lake surface. On a clear day, Mt. Tsukuba and Ushiku Daibutsu can be seen on the other side of the lake, and there are many spots along the road where you can enjoy local food.
