Usa City, Oita Prefecture: A pilgrimage to the footsteps of Yokozuna Futabayama and sumo culture

Usa City

Usa City in Oita Prefecture is the birthplace of sumo, Japan's national sport.
It is a place of great significance.
Once upon a time, a Yokozuna named Futabayama won 69 consecutive matches in sumo.
I set a big record.
It is in Usa City that Mount Futaba was born.
And that record has yet to be broken.
For these reasons, Usa City is known as the "holy land of sumo."
National championships for college and high school students are held every year.
