HANKYU TOURIST PASS

The HANKYU TOURIST PASS allows you to travel easily between Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. Soak up the European feeling of port town Kobe or eat some great food in vibrant Osaka. From there, Kyoto, with its many ancient temples and shrines, as well as vibrant Gion, is just a quick train ride away on Hankyu railways.

The Kansai region is a great home base to explore a wide range of sites while visiting Japan. There’s everything from major cities like Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe, to historical sites as well as astounding natural wonders.

Depending on where you want to travel within Kansai, there are a variety of cost-effective, easy and efficient transport passes available. Use the HANKYU TOURIST PASS to explore the exciting urban landscape of Kobe, Osaka and Kyoto, as well as the beautiful mountain views of Arashiyama as well as the museum of the much-loved manga artist, Tezuka Osamu.

Arashiyama

Take Hankyu Railways to Arashiyama, a beautiful mountain town by the Katsura River with a Zen temple, bamboo forests and a money park. Arashimaya is an accessible yet secluded village surrounded by beautiful mountains and bamboo forests. Here, you can experience the grandeur of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Tenryuji temple, then enjoy the serene feeling of walking across the Togetsu-kyo Bridge, built in the Kamakura Period (1185 – 1333).

Make your way to the Iwatayama Monkey Park, not too far from Arashiyama Station, to get up close and personal with wild Japanese macaque monkeys. These monkeys are known for their red faces and love of hot springs! Afterwards, enjoy a hot spring bath yourself at the footbaths by Arashiyama station.

Tezuka Osamu Museum

Use the HANKYU TOURIST PASS to see the Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum in Takarazuka City. This museum is devoted to the life and work of Tezuka Osamu, the manga artist who is internationally known. Raised in Takarazuka City, Tezuka went on to create the character of Atom Boy, who became a worldwide sensation and captured the hearts of many generations of students. Visitors can take Hankyu Railways to Takarazuka City and get up close and personal with Tezuka’s world of manga characters.

The HANKYU TOURIST PASS is an easy way to explore Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto. Passes can be purchased at Kansai International Airport, and the Hankyu Tourist Center, in Kyoto. Passes cost 800 yen for one day, or 1400 yen for two consecutive days. With the HANKYU TOURIST PASS, passengers can take unlimited rides on all Hankyu Railway lines, excluding the Kobe Rapid Transit Railway.

A one-day pass is cheaper than a roundtrip ticket between Osaka (Umeda Station) and Arashiyama. Because you can use the pass to visit not just Arashiyama, but also the Tezuka Osamu Museum and Gion and Kawaramachi in Kyoto, this makes the pass both a great bargain and easy to use! We recommend purchasing a two-day pass if you want to visit Kobe, Osaka, and Kyoto, so that you have plenty of time to check out the great sites on the Hankyu Railway.
