GLICO MUSEUM

This museum features a very interesting exhibition on the history of nutritious candy, Glico.

This is the memorial museum for Ezaki Glico, an internationally famous candy manufacturer instantly recognizable for its logo: a red box and an image of a runner crossing a finish line. Founded by Riichi Ezaki in 1921, Ezaki Glico got its start when Riichi Ezaki found success using highly nutritious glycogen made from boiled oysters discarded by Ariake sea fishermen to make a caramel product. After that, Glico went on to produce a variety of snacks: Bisco, Pretz, Pocky, and more, beloved not only in Japan, but also across Asia and Europe. In addition to snacks, the company headquarters - currently located in Osaka's Nishi Yodogawa ward - is also active in a number of other genres, including frozen foods, health foods, dairy products, food ingredients, and cutting edge materials. The Ezaki memorial hall, located on the grounds of the company headquarters, focuses on Ezaki Glico's history, displaying a varied of product packages as well as advertisements, campaigns, and Glico toys. It also tells the story of company founder, Riichi Ezaki, through a number of exhibitions. Visit the museum and you may just run into a nostalgic toy or two!
