Kurahashi's regular festival is its most important, impressive event of the year. A shrine's "Rei-sai" (grand festival) is held once, or sometimes twice a year, depending on the shrine. Grand festivals are meant to give thanks to the gods and pray for prosperity and a bountiful harvest.

    October 13th Festival Even Celebration 19:00 - 22:00: Three large, crimson futondaiko floats parade through the town
    October 14th Day of the Festival 10:00: After the ceremony (Shinto rite) at the shrine's hall of worship, lions and futondaiko floats make their way around the town, meeting up at the otabisho float storage area at 14:30. A selection of three floats will march to the shrine along with the lions. At around 16:00, the Yudate ritual will be held in front of the worship hall.
    At around 19:00, the red futondaiko will change to white and proceed towards the shrine in a more refined ceremony. With food stalls open on the grounds of the shrine at night, the presence of the large floats makes for quite a commotion. With three of the largest type of futondaiko, they make for an awe-inspiring sight as they make their way up the 200 meter long road to the shrine.
