Kuzunoha Inari Shrine is dedicated to the legend of the fox spirit, Kuzu-no-Ha. More than 1,000 years ago, a man named Abeno Yasuna lived in Osaka.His father had belonged to a powerful family, but he was tricked and his land was seized. Yasuna, wishing to restore his family's good name, began to visit Shinoda Myojin Shrine.One day, Yasuna saved a white fox from a hunter's trap, and a woman calling herself Kuzu-no-Ha appeared before him. Eventually, Yasuna restored his family name and he and Kuzu-no-Ha had a child (later known as the onmyoji diviner, Abeno Seimei). However, when the child was five years old, Kuzu-no-Ha's identity as a kitsune fox spirit was revealed. The poem Kuzu-no-Ha left behind on a paper screen for her child is quite famous. Because of this story, many people visit the shrine to pray for children.
