Kamigata Performing Arts Museum (Waha Kamigata)

The Kamigata Engei Museum (nicknamed Wahha Kamigata) is the only performing arts museum in the country that holds exhibitions related to Kamigata performing arts (popular performing arts such as rakugo, manzai, kodan, and rakugo).
The museum hosts a variety of exhibitions and events, including permanent exhibitions that utilize the materials in its collection, special exhibitions on the theme of Kamigata performing arts, and hands-on workshops where you can learn about Kamigata performing arts while having fun.
Additionally, in the audiovisual booth, you can watch approximately 3,000 entertainment programs, including previously broadcast TV and radio programs.

Reception: Admission is free, so you can come and go as you please. Staff are always on hand at the reception desk (height: 112 cm) located just inside the entrance, or at the reception desk in the back (height: 72 cm).

Experiences and Attractions

Various experience areas

In the experience area, there is a photo spot where you can take a commemorative photo with an M-1 Grand Prix finalist, and a spot where you can wear a haori coat and take a commemorative photo on a rakugo stage. You can also have a staring contest with a comedian! If you need any support during the experience, staff will be there to assist you.

Exhibition information

Permanent Exhibition

There is a permanent exhibition where you can see a timeline of the history of Kamigata performing arts and nostalgic posters. In addition, there are special exhibitions where the contents change every six months.

Video and audio viewing booth/Book reading corner

In the video and audio viewing booth, you can watch approximately 3,000 entertainment programs, including previously broadcast TV and radio programs. There is also a book reading corner. There is a slope in front of the shelves where the video materials are stored. Also, the files for the archive materials are on the upper shelves, so please ask the reception staff for assistance if you need assistance.
