Osaka Tennoji Zoo

Tennoji Zoo opened on January 1, 1915 (Taisho 4), and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2015 (Heisei 27).
This is a zoo with a long history. Currently, it is home to approximately 1,000 animals of 180 species in an area of approximately 11 hectares.
It is a bustling oasis in the city center, with many visitors.

Rental wheelchairs: We have five wheelchairs available at the Shinsekai Gate and four at the Ten-Shiba Gate, and one electrically assisted wheelchair at each gate. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please ask a gate staff member.

Discount for people with disabilities: Those who are accompanied by a caregiver and who hold a physical disability certificate, mental disability certificate, atomic bomb victim health certificate, war injury certificate, or rehabilitation certificate are admitted free of charge. If you are registered with Mirairo ID, please present the original copy of your certificate or the Mirairo ID registration screen at the gate.

The facility has ample passageways. Caution signs are posted in certain areas where caution is required. If you are exiting through Ten-Shiba Gate, there is a long, inclined path.

There are some steep slopes in some areas, such as the animal exhibition area, Tenshiba Gate, chimpanzee enclosure, and bird paradise.

Theater Seating

TENNOJI ZOO MUSEUM

The museum displays a full skeleton and half-body replica of the Asian elephant "Yuriko," as well as stuffed specimens of endangered animals and explanatory exhibits. The museum also has a multipurpose hall with a capacity of 240 people, where stuffed specimens from the zoo's collection are displayed in a glass-walled storehouse and are rotated regularly.
