—————————————————————————————————————-
◆ Part 1
Instructor Uehara gave a lecture on the rules for wheelchair touring and how to handle a wheelchair!
Each team (4 people) will take a walk based on a theme and mission.
This seminar aims to share insights and ideas with everyone.
◆Part 2
Now, each team begins exploring in their wheelchairs!
The following are the themes that each team actually worked on.
・Going to the station in a wheelchair
- Buy a drink from a vending machine
・Find a wheelchair-accessible parking space
・Buy the top-ranking bottled drink at a convenience store
・Find a disabled restroom
・Entering a toilet for able-bodied people (normal people) in a wheelchair
・Find restaurants and izakayas that are wheelchair accessible
This team is currently working on the theme of "Buying a drink from a vending machine"!

From the perspective of a wheelchair user, the vending machine appears quite tall...!
I turned the wheelchair sideways and was able to reach the button!
In addition to the theme, each team is given a mission.
This team's mission is to "buy toilet paper and laundry detergent, which are necessary for daily life."
When products were displayed on the upper shelves, I couldn't reach out and grab them.

Here too, from the perspective of a wheelchair user, the tissues appear to be very far away...!
To be honest, I felt it would be difficult without the support of a caregiver or people around me.
It also made me think deeply about how to display the items.
Other issues include the LCD screens at the station ticket offices being unreadable,
I realized that the slopes were scary, like riding a roller coaster.
◆Part 3
After the walk, we all reflected on what we had noticed.
Everyone was actively exchanging opinions in each team!
Afterwards, I shared my findings with all the participants.
There is a person at home who requires care, but they do not go out often and only use the facility in familiar places in the neighborhood.
I noticed small bumps in the road, slopes, and various other things that were getting in the way at my feet.
Are we causing inconvenience to others without even realizing it?
I think there are many things you can't understand unless you experience it. I hope many people will experience it too.
It seems that each team had their own realizations.

From this realization, Osaka's universal tourism initiative is not only about the physical aspects, but also about
We will also promote the soft aspects of "barrier-free hearts," such as people's consideration and hospitality.
