Akanemaru Honpo Dainagon: Akanemaru Goshiki Dorayaki

With a thick filling of "an" (bean paste) made from well-selected beans, the dorayaki (pancakes with bean paste filling) are also popular as souvenirs of visits to Shitennoji Temple.
Basic information
Akanemaru Honpo Dainagon started business in Osaka in 1940 as a manufacturer of "an" also known as bean paste. It has since consistently pursued quality in its bean paste and one of it's flagship products is Goshiki Dorayaki, which now has fans not just in Osaka but nationwide. The "an" is produced painstakingly, using carefully selected azuki beans. This an is then combined with 5 different colored beans -- red, mottled, green, azuki and white beans -- to create an exquisite combination that makes the dorayaki filling substantial yet not overwhelmingly sweet. Many new products such as "Ringo-to-Remon-no-Dorayaki" and "Goshiki Dorayaki Kurogoma-jitate" have also appeared, adding to the wide choice available, so why not try one of them?Photo right: "Akanemaru Goshiki Dorayaki" ¥164 each.Photo left: "Toramame Dorayaki" ¥164 each.
