Amidaike Daikoku: Awaokoshi and Iwaokoshi
Awaokoshi (cereal puffs, candied and compressed into bars) is one of Japan's oldest known sweets. Since its establishment, Amidaike Daikoku's awaokoshi has appealed to discerning Osakan taste buds.
The venerable establishment dates back 200 years when in 1805 it started production of okoshi at a place called Amidaike near Nagahorigawa Canal which used to be lined with kurayashiki, warehouses of feudal lords. Okoshi has long been associated with good luck because of its phonetic affinities with the word meaning "to establish" a fortune, a family, or a nation. While using natural ingredients and traditional production techniques, Amidaike Daikoku maintains it's innovative approach when creating sweets for the modern customer.Photo: "Nami-no-Uta" (contains 6 varieties of premium-quality okoshi: ginger, green tea, peanut, plum & red perilla, citron, black sesame) from ¥1,296.
