Chihaya Star and Nature Museum

See the beauty of the stars from the top of Mount Kongo, the roof of Osaka. Enjoy a nature experience with a friendly, expert guide.

Chihayaakasaka Village, located in the southeastern part of Osaka Prefecture, is the only village in the prefecture. Located approximately 1,000 meters above sea level on Mount Kongo via the village-run ropeway, the expansive Chihaya Prefectural Forest Park stretches out above Mount Kongo, where the Chihaya Star and Nature Museum serves as its central community center. The museum, designed with environmental friendliness in mind, including eco-loops and wind power generation, features a wide variety of exhibits, including photographs, videos, audio, and materials about Mount Kongo's plants, wild birds, and animals. There's also a study space with computers and books. A 400mm telescope is installed in the stargazing platform with a sliding roof, and stargazing events are held once or twice a month, except in winter. A variety of nature experience programs are also available. The park also features a campground, bungalows, and the village-run Hotels, Konanso.
