Machinery Shrine

The Tanabata Festival, which was revived as an annual festival in 1979, is now a major festival representing Katano City, attracting many visitors.

In the 5th and 6th centuries, a group of people (the Hata clan) who had been brought in by immigrants (from the Chang'an area in China) and who had the skills to cultivate silkworms and weave textiles came to this area. It is believed that a part of the group settled at the foot of what is now Mount Kuraji, and the current shrine was founded by people believed to be Hata people (the Hata clan), who founded "Hatamono Shrine," and the locals began calling it Hatamono.
Also, from that time onwards, Tanabata festivals were held as a ritual to worship the gods. It was revived as an annual festival in 1979, and now it is a major festival representing Katano City, attracting many visitors.
