Hankyu Cultural Foundation Ikeda Library

This library was founded by Ichizo Kobayashi, a businessman known for his work on Hankyu Railway and the Takarazuka Revue. It houses and makes available to the public a collection of over 280,000 books and magazines, including valuable materials related to literature and theater, from Takarazuka Revue to Kabuki and film.
The museum opened in 1949, but its history dates back to the library that opened in 1915 inside Takarazuka Shin Onsen. Taking over the materials of the Takarazuka Literary Library, the museum's comprehensive collection of opera posters and programs is a must-see for fans. It also houses many Kabuki-related materials, including a collection of over 8,000 Kamigata actor paintings, said to be one of the largest in the world. It also houses posters and newsletters that tell the history of Hankyu Railway, making it a corporate library.
