Japan Folk Crafts Museum, Osaka

Located within Expo'70 Commemorative Park, it exhibits excellent crafts from Japan and around the world, including ceramics, dyed textiles, and paintings.

This facility exhibits exquisite crafts from Japan and around the world, including ceramics, dyed and woven textiles, braided items, wood lacquerware, and paintings. It's located in an area of Expo'70 Commemorative Park that's home to cultural facilities like the Peace Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden, and the National Museum of Ethnology. The Japan Folk Crafts Museum (Komaba, Tokyo) exhibited the Japanese Folk Crafts Museum as one of its pavilions at the 1970 World Exposition, aiming to showcase the practical beauty of crafts cultivated in everyday life. The museum took over the original structure and opened in 2014. The building is a single-story (with some two-story sections) reinforced concrete structure spanning the entire triangular site. The exhibition rooms are arranged in a corridor-style, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural flow of the exhibits from Rooms 1 to 4. The stone-paved courtyard surrounding the building offers a simple, outdoor exhibition space, featuring a moderate display of jars, pots, and vessels from around Japan. Special exhibitions are held twice a year, in spring and autumn, and commemorative lectures are also held.
