Kishiwada Danjiri Kaikan

Experience the Danjiri Festival all year round! A museum where you can learn everything about the Danjiri Festival.
The nationally renowned Kishiwada Danjiri Festival began in the mid-Edo period and boasts a 300-year tradition. The Kishiwada Danjiri Kaikan is a facility where you can witness the festival's long history and power. In March 2024, the facility was renovated to incorporate the latest video technology, allowing visitors to experience the Danjiri Festival through hands-on experience. Utilizing existing exhibits such as danjiri floats, musical instruments, decorations, and miniature danjiri floats, the facility was renovated into an exhibition space that preserves and enjoys the traditions and culture of the Danjiri Festival. With Kishiwada Castle as a backdrop, visitors can take commemorative photos in front of the danjiri floats that were actually paraded through the town from the end of the Edo period to the Heisei era. Visitors can also enjoy everything the Danjiri Festival has to offer, including a photo spot with Kishiwada Castle as a backdrop, digitized panels introducing each neighborhood in Kishiwada City, a corner where they can watch videos of spear-washi (traditional Japanese spear-washi) techniques from each district, an immersive three-screen theater, musical instruments, and carpentry experiences.
