Hirakata City Former Tanaka Family Foundry Folk Museum

The only foundry in Japan that retains its Edo period appearance
This facility relocated and restored the foundry and main house of the Tanaka family, who ran a foundry business in Hirakata Village, Ibaraki County, Kawachi Province (present-day Hirakata Kaminomachi) during the Edo period. The foundry displays the history and techniques of casting and the history of the Tanaka family, while the main house displays agricultural tools and everyday items used in Hirakata City, such as food, clothing, and shelter. Also on the premises are a restored dwelling modeled after the remains of a Yayoi period pit dwelling excavated from an archaeological site in the city, and the remains of a Yayoi period pit dwelling that has been preserved and relocated.
