Sosaku Wagashi Kobo Bashoan Tempozan Branch
Jelly-like yet firm, Bashodo's warabimochi (a sweet made from bracken starch) leaves a lasting impression on the taste buds.
Bashodo's famous warabimochi can be sampled at Bashoan, its tearoom in Naniwa Kuishimbo Yokocho, located in the Osaka Bay Area. Naniwa Kuishimbo Yokocho is a food theme park where Osaka's well-known and long-established eateries offer their fare at premises occupying a recreated 1960s Osaka alleyway. Made only from carefully selected ingredients, the warabimochi are like no other. A popular feature at Bashoan is the ishiusu taiken, or stone milling experience, where customers can grind top-quality black beans from the Tamba Region to sprinkle on their own warabimochi. The smell of kuromame kinako (black bean flour) that fills the shop, and the texture of the jelly-like but firm warabimochi is a favourite for all.
