Located on the prefectural border between Chihaya-Akasaka Village in Osaka Prefecture and Gose City in Nara Prefecture, within the Kongo-Ikoma-Kisen Quasi-National Park, “Mount Yamato-Katsuragi” is famous for its azaleas—said to number a million at a glance—but summer is actually the best time to visit.From the summit, at an elevation of 959.2 meters, you’ll enjoy an unobstructed 360-degree view of the Osaka Plain. The temperature is about 5 degrees cooler than at the base, allowing you to soak up the refreshing breeze. If you stay at one of the lodges or campsites, you can also enjoy the night view.
