The Sakai Den-shokan is an exhibition, retail, and hands-on facility that showcases the appeal of Sakai’s proud traditional industries. On the first floor, the “TAKUMI SHOP” sells a wide variety of Sakai-exclusive specialty products, including a diverse selection of kitchen knives, chusen-dyed tenugui towels, incense, kelp products, Japanese sweets, and tea.On the second floor, you’ll find the “Sakai Cutlery Museum CUT,” where you can learn about the history and manufacturing process of Sakai-forged cutlery, as well as the “TAKUMI EXHIBITION,” an exhibition room that introduces the history and production methods of chusen-dyed textiles, washi-sari, incense, and processed kelp.Live demonstrations and hands-on events are held regularly, allowing visitors to experience the skills of local artisans and enjoyably learn about Sakai’s culture of craftsmanship. It’s a highly recommended spot for sightseeing and exploring the city on foot.
