Umeda Arts Theater, Main Hall

A 3-minute walk from the Chayamachi Exit of Hankyu Railway’s “Osaka-Umeda Station.” The Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall is a venue that stages a wide variety of performances—from musicals to classical music, opera, and ballet—with a focus on Takarazuka Revue.Its predecessor was the historic “Umeda Koma Theater,” which opened in 1956. After being reborn at its current location in 1992 as “Theater Hiten,” it once again took the name “Umeda Koma Theater,” but following its renovation and reopening in April 2005, it was renamed the “Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall.”The 1,905-seat auditorium is designed not only for theater but also for classical music performances, with a reverberation time and sound level optimized to ensure both the clarity of the music’s resonance and an intimate experience of the sounds coming from the stage. The theater continues to present the high-quality plays and concerts that have been a hallmark of the Umeda Koma Theater.
