This is an arcade shopping district that runs north-south from the east side of Honmachi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line to near Shinsaibashi Station. After the construction
of Kita-Mido and Minami-Mido, shops began to flourish in this area, which developed particularly as a wholesale district.Since the Meiji era, it has been a shopping district where wholesale merchants—primarily dealing in textiles and miscellaneous goods—gathered, attracting buyers from across the country. However, the wholesale aspect has since faded, and the area is now home to numerous retail stores, restaurants, and service businesses. Additionally, with many hotels and large office buildings located in the surrounding area, there are numerous restaurants—particularly those popular with international tourists—where lines often form.
