Osaka Prefectural Yayoi Culture Museum: Reiwa 8 Spring/Summer Special Exhibition “Revisit Yayoi Culture: The Current State of Discovery and Research”

Our museum, which bills itself as Japan’s only museum specializing in the Yayoi period, opened in the spring of 1991. Since
then, the number of artifacts has increased significantly due to archaeological excavations conducted throughout the country, and as a result of research conducted from various perspectives, our understanding of Yayoi culture—including our chronological framework—has required substantial revision.In light of
these developments, this exhibition features a display that combines the artifacts from our currently closed Exhibition Hall 1 with newly discovered materials, inviting visitors to reconsider the nature and significance of Yayoi culture.
