The Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art opened on February 2, 2022, in Nakanoshima, Osaka. Its
collection spans a wide range of genres, including Western painting, Japanese painting, modern paintings from abroad, contemporary art, prints, photography, sculpture, and design. In particular, Yuzo Saeki’s masterpieces, Modigliani’s nude portraits, works by Jiro Yoshihara—leader of the Gutai Art Association—and representative works by international artists are highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.
Based on the architectural concept of the “passage”—a French term referring to pedestrian-only arcades and pathways where anyone can freely come and go—the museum aims to be an open hub for artistic activity where people, whether interested in art or not, can casually stroll through and occasionally experience art firsthand. In addition to showcasing
our diverse collection, we are actively committed to hosting exhibitions across a wide range of fields, and we look forward to welcoming you as a new platform for the arts.
