1_Nozaki Kannon

1. Nozaki Kannon Jigenji Temple

Founded approximately 1,300 years ago, this famous temple has been a place of worship since ancient times.

This Soto Zen temple enshrines the Eleven-Headed Kannon statue as its principal image. From May 1st to 31st, 2025, copies of the woodblock prints from the DC special project will be given away. From May 1st to 8th, the temple will host the Nozaki Mairi festival, which will be bustling with many visitors.

An entertainment park for relaxation, connections, and everyday life. It is home to the Nordic family restaurant "keittoRuokala," lifestyle shops, bakeries, and more, as well as workshops and other events.

Head to Prince Shotoku's sacred place in search of blessings!

Founded by Prince Shotoku in 593, this is the first Buddhist temple in Japan. There are many things to see, including the temple structure that conveys the style of the 6th and 7th centuries, the buildings dedicated to the founders of each sect, and the Treasure Museum (for a limited time) which houses national treasures and important cultural properties.

Speaking of first shrine visits of the year, Sumiyossan is Osaka's number one power spot!

This is the head shrine of the Sumiyoshi faith, which has 2,300 shrines across the country. Since ancient times, it has been worshipped as the guardian deity of navigation, the god of waka poetry and literature, and other deities.

If you're going to Osaka, why not enjoy dinner at a typical Osaka night spot, such as Hozenji Yokocho, the setting for Oda Sakunosuke's novel "Meoto Zenzai," or Ura Namba, where Osaka's drinkers gather?

  • Visiting the Three National Treasure Kannon Temples of Osaka 3

    Osaka National Treasure Three Kannon Temples Pilgrimage (only on April 17th and 18th, 2025)

    Kawachi

    Minamikawachi, one of the areas with the largest concentration of national treasures in Japan, is home to three temples, Kuzui-ji Temple, Domyo-ji Temple, and Kanshin-ji Temple, which enshrines the Kannon Bodhisattva, a national treasure, as their principal image. In 2025, in addition to the usual date of April 18th, the principal image of each of these three temples will also be unveiled on the 17th, the day before. This marks the launch of the "Osaka National Treasure Three Kannon Pilgrimage." By touring these three temples, visitors can experience the rich history and culture of Minamikawachi. *This year only, Domyo-ji Temple will be displaying the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, a former national treasure and now an Important Cultural Property, as its principal image, the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, will be exhibited at the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts.

    Osaka Castle is a well-known symbol of Osaka. A vast park spreads out around the castle. By touring the castle tower, gardens, and turrets, you can get a real feel for this famous castle where the Toyotomi and Tokugawa clans competed for power. After lunch near the castle tower, you can explore the surrounding castle town and Minami, and experience Kamigata culture such as Noh and Ukiyo-e.
