1. Minoh Falls and Waterfall Path

Osaka's most famous waterfall where you can enjoy seasonal scenery

The Takimichi trail that runs from Hankyu Minoh Station along the Minoh River is a promenade where you can enjoy the sounds of the river and the seasonal changes in the forest. After walking about 2.8km, you will come across Minoh Falls, the most famous waterfall in Osaka Prefecture. It has been selected as one of the "100 Best Waterfalls of Japan" and tumbles down a drop of about 33m in one go, bringing a refreshing breeze to the surrounding area.

2. Osaka University Museum

A glimpse into the depth of university research and history

This museum has collected, preserved, and exhibited valuable academic materials from the founding of Osaka University, and disseminates information about university research, traditions, and interactions with society. In addition to exhibiting the fossil of the Machikane crocodile excavated on Machikaneyama, where the museum is located, it also exhibits materials related to Kaitokudo and Tekijuku, the roots of Osaka University.

This museum allows you to learn about the history and appeal of instant ramen, which has now become a global food, while having fun. There are a variety of educational opportunities, including an experience of making your own cup noodles by choosing your preferred soup and toppings in a cup you design yourself, a workshop where you can make your own Chicken Ramen, and a corner where you can learn about the history of instant ramen.

A diverse collection on display in special exhibitions

This art museum is named after the pen name of Ichizo Kobayashi, known as the founder of Hankyu Railway. Its collection includes approximately 5,500 items, including nationally designated Important Cultural Properties, such as ancient calligraphy, ancient sutras, picture scrolls, medieval and early modern paintings (particularly works by Buson, Goshun, and the Maruyama-Shijo school), ceramics from Japan and around the world, and Japanese and Chinese lacquerware. Tea is served in the chair-style tea room within the museum, and the museum also has a multi-purpose hall.

5. Ichizo Kobayashi Museum of Art

Introducing the diverse side of businesspeople

Ichizo Kobayashi, the founder of Hankyu Railway, not only started a railway, but also started a number of businesses including housing development, Takarazuka Revue, Hankyu Department Store, and Toho, and also entered politics. He left behind a wide range of writings, and you can learn about his life and achievements as a connoisseur. Five of his properties, including his former residence, Gazoku Sanso, and the teahouse, are registered as tangible cultural properties by the country. There is also a rental teahouse and a French restaurant.

  • Visiting the Three National Treasure Kannon Temples of Osaka 3

    Osaka National Treasure Three Kannon Temples Pilgrimage (only on April 17th and 18th, 2025)

    Kawachi

    Minamikawachi, one of the areas with the largest concentration of national treasures in Japan, is home to three temples, Kuzui-ji Temple, Domyo-ji Temple, and Kanshin-ji Temple, which enshrines the Kannon Bodhisattva, a national treasure, as their principal image. In 2025, in addition to the usual date of April 18th, the principal image of each of these three temples will also be unveiled on the 17th, the day before. This marks the launch of the "Osaka National Treasure Three Kannon Pilgrimage." By touring these three temples, visitors can experience the rich history and culture of Minamikawachi. *This year only, Domyo-ji Temple will be displaying the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, a former national treasure and now an Important Cultural Property, as its principal image, the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, will be exhibited at the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts.
