Located next to Osaka Castle, the museum has a variety of areas where you can enjoy over 3,000 pieces of art created by Kaiyodo, a pioneer in Japanese figure production, over 40 years. There is also a souvenir shop and over 100 types of capsule toys on display, making it popular both in Japan and overseas.

You will be able to take part in the finishing process of making a 47cm long umbrella for both sun and rain. The work involves attaching the tip of the umbrella and stitching the ribs and fabric together. This is a delicate process that requires the use of needles and scissors, so it is recommended for adults! You can take home the finished product.

This workshop allows participants to paint sandals with white canvas uppers (the part that covers the instep) using fabric paints to create a one-of-a-kind pair of sandals.

Sakai Toji knives, used by many of the world's most famous chefs, are masterpieces that symbolize Sakai, a city that has cultivated tradition. Why not try making your own Sakai Toji knife, a knife that you will never want to let go of once you have used it and that you can use for a long time?

This is a collaborative plan that combines the experience of knife-making with the taste of Japanese cuisine in Sakai, a city with a 600-year tradition of cutting edge craftsmanship. First, learn sharpening techniques and other techniques from a craftsman at Wada store Shoten, a long-established Japanese knife maker, and create your very own knife. Next, you will be given a private room at Mochizuki Ichimi-an, a long-established Japanese restaurant, where you will enjoy a lecture on how to use Japanese knives from the head chef and savor some of their specialty dishes. This is a special experience that will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese knives.

Why not experience Japanese culture in Sakai's historic district, where traditional Japanese elements remain? Try your hand at making a miniature tatami mat while listening to the stories of a tatami craftsman. Though it's miniature, the materials are the same as real tatami mats. Choose the color, material, and border (a unique Sakai burial mound motif) and pattern to create your own mini tatami mat.
The finished size is 18 x 25 cm.

This is an experience where you can make traditional Sakai wagashi (nerikiri) by hand under the guidance of an instructor. Try making wagashi using seasonal fruits, your favorite flowers, animals, or characters (2 or 3 pieces per person).

Wazarashi, a traditional local industry that has been produced in large quantities along the Ishizu River, which has abundant water, since the early Edo period, is a bleached cotton fabric made by removing impurities. The fabric is boiled and bleached in a large cauldron for approximately 28 hours. At Kadono Sarashi Dyeing, the entire process from bleaching to dyeing and final product is carried out, and you can observe the careful and reliable manufacturing process. You can also experience the "Sekka Tie Dye" method using Wazarashi, and create an original tenugui hand towel that you can take home as a souvenir.

You will melt a glass rod with a burner and create glass beads. Choose one color and create about five glass beads. After production, they will need time to cool. You can create accessories with the glass beads you made. You can make up to two pieces per person using the hardware available in the store.
