Meiji Forest Minoh Quasi-National Park (Minoh Falls)
Meiji-no-Mori Minoh Quasi-National Park is a quasi-national park boasting excellent access from both JR Shin-Osaka Station and Osaka International Airport. It was designated a quasi-national park in 1967, along with Mount Takao in Tokyo, to commemorate the "100th anniversary of the Meiji era." Located in the low mountainous region (100-600m above sea level) in the northern part of Minoh City, the 963-hectare area includes the prefectural Minoh Park, long famous for its autumn foliage and the 33m-high Minoh Falls, and the surrounding forest. Despite being located near a major city, the park is a "treasure trove of nature," home to approximately 1,100 species of plants and 3,000 species of insects, and is visited by many people throughout the year for nature observation and hiking.
