■Nozaki Visit
[Period] May 1st to 8th
Nozaki Mairi, held every year from May 1st to 8th, is an event that has been held for over 300 years since the Edo (Genroku) period, and is properly called Muenkyo Hoyo. In the past, it was a major tourist event, with many people travelling by boat from Osaka city. During the event, the eleven-faced Kannon statue (a designated cultural property of Daito City), which is usually enshrined inside the main hall, can be viewed directly by lifting the curtains. More than 130 stalls line both sides of the approach to the temple from JR Nozaki Station, and the temple is bustling with pilgrims from all over the country. (The dates of the stalls will be announced on the Daito City website.)
