Suntory Whisky Yamazaki Distillery

A guided tour of Japan's oldest malt whisky distillery. Enjoy tastings and souvenirs.

Basic information
Due to Hommachi 's abundant water and humid environment being ideal for whiskey production, the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery was founded in Hommachi in 1923, and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023. Hommachi, home to the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, Japan's oldest malt whiskey distillery, is said to be the birthplace of Japanese whiskey. When visiting the Yamazaki Whisky Museum, you can freely enjoy the exhibits, shop, and tasting lounge (fees apply).
■Yamazaki Distillery Manufacturing Tour (paid, Japanese)
・See where Suntory Single Malt Whisky Yamazaki is made and experience the aroma and temperature that can only be felt there with all five senses. During the tasting, you can enjoy Suntory Single Malt Whisky Yamazaki, rare malt whiskey undiluted, and a Yamazaki highball. After the tour, you can take home an original Yamazaki tasting glass.
