A temple associated with the Sugawara clan that preserves the national treasure Kannon
This temple is associated with Sugawara no Michizane and enshrines the National Treasure Eleven-Headed Kannon statue, and conveys its history as a nunnery since ancient times.

Kawachi全国有数の国宝集積地帯である南河内には、国宝の観音様をご本尊とする3カ寺、葛井寺・道明寺・観心寺がある。
2026年は、例年の4月18日に加え前日17日にも3カ寺あわせてご本尊がご開扉されることになり、これを機に「大阪国宝三観音めぐり」を創設。
