Basic information

A yagura is a castle's "base for interception." It is an important place to watch over enemies and defend the castle by attacking with arrows and matchlock guns.
For a limited time, Osaka Castle will open the interiors of the Tamon Yagura, Senkan Yagura, and Inui Yagura, which are designated as important cultural properties.
After the Battle of Osaka, which saw the downfall of the Toyotomi clan, Osaka Castle was rebuilt by the Tokugawa Shogunate and became the Shogunate's base of control over the western provinces. You can learn about the rich history of Osaka Castle by viewing the precious turrets that have survived numerous disasters to this day.
