Basic information

Of the two national treasures in the collection, the "Celadon Phoenix Ear Vase with the inscription 'Mansei'" is believed to have been fired at the Longquan kiln in Zhejiang Province during the Southern Song dynasty and imported. It is an excellent piece, even among phoenix ear vases, with a particularly meticulous and dignified style.
Another national treasure, "Kasen Utaawase," is the only old copy of the Thirty-Man Poems, which is believed to have been compiled by Fujiwara no Kinto and revised by Prince Tomohira. It is believed to have been copied in the mid-11th century and is said to have been written by Fujiwara no Yukinari.
