Special Opening of the Yoshimura Family Residence, an Important Cultural Property
In addition to the outer garden and earthen floor, the interior of the residence, which is not open to the public during the autumn opening, will be open to the public in conjunction with the after-sales campaign. You can get a close look at the Momoyama period Shoin-style architecture that remains in the guest rooms, which are the highlight of this building.
Basic information
It was the first private house in Japan to be designated as a cultural property (former national treasure), and is one of only three private house buildings in Japan that were designated as former national treasures before World War II. It is now designated as an Important Cultural Property. The Yoshimura family was a famous family that served as the headman of 18 villages in Tanboku and Yakami (present-day Habikino, Matsubara, Yatsuo, and Osaka City) counties.
