Sakai Tai-an is a restoration of the original appearance of the National Treasure Tai-an, the only surviving tea room created by Sen no Rikyu. Based on research findings from historical documents, modern artisans have restored the interior of Sakai Tai-an in Sakai, and visitors can enter the tea room to experience the space. You can also see Muichi-an, a restoration of Rikyu's four-and-a-half-tatami-mat tea room from the Kitano Grand Tea Ceremony.

When you put on the VR goggles and stand on the circular table, the streetscape of the medieval moated city of Sakai is reproduced in 3D on the hologram table inside the goggles. This is an experiential content that allows you to view the video from any angle.

This yoga experience is open to beginners and is held at Myohoji Temple, one of the oldest temples in Senshu, with a history of approximately 700 years. A commemorative gift is included.

Why not experience Japanese culture in Sakai's historic district, where traditional Japanese elements remain? Try your hand at making a miniature tatami mat while listening to the stories of a tatami craftsman. Though it's miniature, the materials are the same as real tatami mats. Choose the color, material, and border (a unique Sakai burial mound motif) and pattern to create your own mini tatami mat.

This is an experience where you can make traditional Sakai wagashi (nerikiri) by hand under the guidance of an instructor. Try making wagashi using seasonal fruits, your favorite flowers, animals, or characters (2 or 3 pieces per person).

Wazarashi, a traditional local industry that has been produced in large quantities along the Ishizu River, which has abundant water, since the early Edo period, is a bleached cotton fabric made by removing impurities. The fabric is boiled and bleached in a large cauldron for approximately 28 hours. At Kadono Sarashi Dyeing, the entire process from bleaching to dyeing and final product is carried out, and you can observe the careful and reliable manufacturing process. You can also experience the "Sekka Tie Dye" method using Wazarashi, and create an original tenugui hand towel that you can take home as a souvenir.

You can observe the hand-making of konbu, which has supported the food culture of Kamigata, and we will talk about the history of the birth of Kansai's dashi culture and various types of konbu. Those who attend the tour will receive a souvenir of Oboro Konbu. In addition to Oboro Konbu, our direct sales store sells a variety of konbu products such as snack konbu, tsukudani (simmered konbu), and dashi konbu, so you can purchase them as souvenirs or for use at home.

You will melt a glass rod with a burner and create glass beads. Choose one color and create about five glass beads. After production, they will need time to cool. You can create accessories with the glass beads you made. You can make up to two pieces per person using the hardware available in the store.
