[4th Annual] Whisky 100th Anniversary Festival in Shimamoto - October 2nd (Fri), 3rd (Sat), and 4th (Sun)
Compare whiskey cocktails in the birthplace of Japanese whiskey.
The event will be held at the Sakurai Station Ruins Historical Park in front of JR Shimamoto Station on October 2nd (Fri), 3rd (Sat), and 4th (Sun), 2026!
Basic information
The Whisky 100th Anniversary Festival was established to commemorate the 100th anniversary in 2023 of the start of construction on Japan's first malt whisky distillery in Hommachi. This will be the fourth time the festival has been held.
Whiskey is made by aging the initial raw spirit for many years, which helps to develop its flavor. Furthermore, the raw materials, brewing methods, aging period, and even the barrels used for aging all contribute to the variety of flavors produced, as do the climate and water of the town where the distillery is located.
This whiskey festival is an event where you can experience the diversity and depth of whiskey. We believe that if more people notice the differences and enjoyment of whiskey by comparing various ways of drinking it, the whiskey industry will become even more vibrant.
Alcohol, when enjoyed responsibly, can add color to our daily lives. We hope this will be an opportunity to introduce new ways of enjoying alcohol in this place where Japanese whisky originated.
| ~Event Theme~ "Hyakunin Isshu 'Love Poems'" | In 1202, a poetry contest about "love" was held at the Minase Imperial Villa, illuminated by moonlight. Then and now, it seems that what excites people's hearts and adds color to their daily lives is "the feeling of longing for someone." The 43 love poems collected in the Hyakunin Isshu (One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each) transcend time and space, speaking powerfully to us in the modern age. At this festival, top bartenders will select a love poem from the Hyakunin Isshu (One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each) and express its profound worldview in a special whiskey cocktail. They will carefully and professionally capture the layers of words and the subtle nuances of delicate emotions in each drink. Experience the romance of history and the aesthetics of a bartender amidst the pleasant breezes and atmosphere of Hommachi. Please enjoy this special story that illuminates the "next 100 years" of whiskey culture with all your senses. |

[The Gacha of Destiny] *One of the three tickets is a "Date Drink Ticket" that can be used at the store you won in the gacha. *The remaining two tickets can be used at any store. ② Additional tickets are required for the 4th ticket and beyond.
