Osaka Castle Tower Special Opening 2025

Osaka Castle will be holding a special open house (※2) for a limited time to show the interiors of the Tamon Yagura, Sengan Yagura, and Inui Yagura, ancient structures designated as Important Cultural Properties. Inui Yagura is an extremely rare L-shaped two-story building with the first and second floors being almost the same size.
Following the Battle of Osaka, which saw the downfall of the Toyotomi clan, Osaka Castle was rebuilt by the Tokugawa Shogunate and became the Shogunate's base of control over the western provinces. The castle contained a variety of buildings, including the castle tower, palaces, mansions, turrets, and storehouses, but many of these were destroyed in the great fires that occurred during the turmoil of the Meiji Restoration and in air raids during World War II. The Tamon Turret, Sengan Turret, and Inui Turret are precious ancient structures that have survived these disasters and remain to this day.

*2 The Tamon-yagura, Senkan-yagura, and Inui-yagura towers are located within the Nishinomaru Garden of Osaka Castle.
