Nakamura Residence

Nakamura Residence, which was designated as a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, was originally run by a wholesaler of lacquer combs. It conveys the style of a typical townhouse in Narai-juku. The floor plan of the house, the money deposit slips and withdrawl books from the end of Edo period to the Meiji period along with lacquer combs of the merchants are displayed. Take a glimpse at how they lived at that time.

Kamitoiya Museum

It has been a wholesaler for about 270 years from the Keicho era (1602) to the Meiji Restoration, and exhibits more than 400 artifacts such as ancient documents, pottery, and lacquer ware, and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property.

”The former Sugi no Mori Sake Brewery" founded in 1793, which was called one of Kiso Five Great Brands Sake, and the residence of the "Magemono" profession which was the main industry of Narai-juku was the origin for this inn.
