The cityscape, which seems to have slipped back in time 400 years ago, was selected as an "Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District" in 1976. Shimosagaya, Kamisagaya

Shimosagaya was at first a tenement house but one of the house was dismantled and restored in 1963. You can learn about the residence of the common people during that time from the two parallel floor plan of the katadoma of Tsumago. Kamisagaya is a mid-18th century architecture that was restored in 1969. This wooden inn is also a valuable historical relic that the common people used back at that time.
