Beppu Onsen

A tour of hot spring "heaven" and "jigoku",
where you can feel healing with your whole body

This is the most prominent hot spring in Oita Prefecture, the onsen prefecture.
The number of hot springs in Oita is said to be the largest in Japan
in terms of the number of sources and the amount of hot springs gushing forth.
The eight hot springs vary in efficacy and scenery,
from nostalgic hot springs to hot springs in the midst of the great outdoors,
all offering places where you can relax and unwind.
After relaxing to your heart's content in the hot spring paradise, it is time to go on a tour of "jigoku".
The steaming spots, sometimes with hot mud gushing out, or of bloody red colour are known as jigoku (lit. hell) in Japanese.
Mysterious colors, roaring sounds, and hot spring eggs that differ
from place to place will allow you to experience the power of onsen with all your senses.

Unforgettable and
unique hot spring tours

There are eight hot springs in the city, known as "Beppu Hachiyu. Each one has different qualities of spring water and different effects. There are hot springs with a retro Showa-era feel, hot springs in vast natural settings, and even one inside a bicycle racing track! There are also facilities that offer a different kind of enjoyment from other hot springs, such as mud baths, which are said to be effective for beauty, and "Mushiyu," where you lie down on a bed of hot water fountains.

A tour of "jigoku" to feel
the mysterious power of nature

Beppu Onsen is famous for the steam and smoke rising up from the city. A tour of jigoku is a must. You can feel the mysterious power of nature at the blood-colored jigoku, the oldest natural jigoku in Japan, and other jigokus that change color from day to day. One of the best things to do in Kannawa is to enjoy the gourmet cuisine of jigoku. Jigoku-mushi" is a traditional dish of vegetables and seafood cooked in the steam of hot spring water, and has been enjoyed since the Edo period (1603-1868). After dinner, you can relax in the footbath or bedrock bath.
