Nagai Botanical Gardens

Since its opening in 1974, Nagai Botanical Garden has been a beloved botanical garden where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers and lush greenery, despite being located in Osaka city.

The approximately 24.2 hectare park is home to 11 specialized gardens, including a rose garden, hydrangea garden, and peony garden, as well as a 2,000m² life garden completely covered in seasonal flowers, and flowering trees such as plum, cherry, jacaranda, and crape myrtle, allowing you to enjoy beautiful blooming plants all year round.
Additionally, the Historical Forest, located north of the botanical garden, is home to metasequoia trees, known as living fossils, as well as forests from the Paleogene/Neogene periods in Osaka from 66 million years ago to 2 million years ago, and the glacial and interglacial periods that have repeated since 2 million years ago, recreating representative forests of Osaka from ancient times to the present day, categorized by era.
Enjoy this urban oasis filled with flowers, nature, and water.

  • 2Park passage

The main paths within the park are paved with asphalt, allowing you to walk around the park.
Some of the specialized gardens within the park (such as Azalea Mountain, Rhododendron Garden, and Hydrangea Garden) have steep slopes and unpaved paths. The Hydrangea Garden in particular has many ups and downs, so please be careful if you are using a self-propelled wheelchair.
There is enough space for wheelchair movement.

Rose Garden and Cosmos

  • 1 Rose Garden

The rose garden is basically flat and made of concrete blocks.
Ramps have been installed where there are stairs, and there is ample space for wheelchairs.
    Braille blocks are also installed.

  • 3Cosmos Garden

The cosmos garden is basically flat.
There are some parts of the road that are made of dirt and concrete, but it seems unlikely that wheelchair tires will get caught in them.
The wooden path in the cosmos garden is about 90 cm wide, so when there are a lot of people, it may be a little narrow for able-bodied people and people in wheelchairs to pass each other.
