  • Osaka Castle Museum

Osaka Castle, which dates back to the Sengoku period as Osaka Honganji Temple (Ishiyama Honganji Temple), has always had a deep connection with Japanese history, having been involved in the Ishiyama Battle against Oda Nobunaga, its construction by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, its fall during the Siege of Osaka, its reconstruction by the Tokugawa Shogunate, its destruction during the turmoil of the Meiji Restoration, its subsequent control by the army, and its postwar development into a park. All of the ancient structures that can be seen today, such as the stone walls and moats, Otemon Gate, Tamon Turret, and Senkan Turret, date from the Tokugawa period onwards, and the entire area has been designated a special national historic site, with most of the ancient structures designated as important cultural properties.

The castle tower is the third in its kind, dating back to the Toyotomi and Tokugawa periods, and was restored in 1931 with donations from local residents. With over 90 years of history, it has been designated a national registered cultural property. Since its restoration, it has served as a history museum called "Osaka Castle Museum," housing a wealth of cultural assets relating to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the Sengoku period, and the history of Osaka Castle, which are displayed in rotating exhibition rooms inside.

  • Fujita Museum of Art

The Fujita Museum's collection was built by Fujita Densaburo, a businessman active during the Meiji period, and his sons Heitaro and Tokujiro.
Densaburo felt a sense of crisis that many of the cultural assets that had been passed down through the lords' families and temples and shrines were being exported overseas or treated carelessly within Japan following the Meiji Restoration.
Densaburo was not only a businessman, but also an art lover to the extent that, despite being warned by his parents from a young age against collecting things, he was unable to change his nature.
He decided to take this opportunity to collect a large number of works of art and at the same time prevent the nation's treasures from being scattered, and so he began collecting.
His heirs inherited his passion for art, saying, "These national treasures should not be kept secret as the private property of one individual.
"I want these works to be widely available to the public, so that they can be enjoyed by friends with similar interests, and that they can be used as reference materials for researchers in the field," and so he opened the Fujita Museum of Art in 1954.

From its opening until its temporary closure on June 11, 2017, the Fujita Museum building was a renovated storehouse in the Fujita family residence, built between the Meiji and Taisho periods, that was reused as an exhibition room.
During the 1945 Osaka air raids, which destroyed most of the mansion, the storehouse fortunately escaped the fire, protecting the art treasures housed within.

The new Fujita Museum of Art, as a "storehouse museum" that has been loved for over 60 years, also hopes to pass on the artworks it has inherited to the next generation.

  • Daisen Park Japanese Garden (Sakai City)

This Japanese garden covers a total area of 26,000 square meters. Sakai flourished as a trading hub during the Middle Ages, and various technologies and cultures arrived there. It is said that the gardening techniques that became the origins of Japanese gardens were also introduced at this time. Making full use of traditional Japanese gardening techniques, Daisen Park's garden is designed as a strolling garden with a hill and a forest and springs. It is composed of three landscapes: Togendai, a plateau on the southern side; Ishizukei, which flows from south to north; and the lowlands on the northern side. Passing through the cypress gate, you will find a rest area modeled after the "Nayashu," a meeting place for wealthy Sakai merchants in the Middle Ages; Ryuhaitei, where you can enjoy a meandering stream carved from the stone of Mount Huaguo in China, which is associated with Son Goku; Togendai, where you can enjoy outdoor tea ceremonies and bonsai exhibitions; and a walk along the stream will take you to Kasatei. Experience the changing flowers and greenery of the seasons while immersing yourself in Sakai's cultural climate.

  • Duskin Museum

Since its founding in 1963, Duskin has created a new cleaning culture with its "chemical cloths" that remove dust without using water, and in 1971 introduced authentic American "handmade donuts" to Japan, providing new cleaning methods and eating styles.
We have opened a museum in Suita, Osaka, the place where we were founded, with pride as a pioneer that has continued to propose new joys to people's lives based on the two themes of "beauty" and "deliciousness."
When visiting, it is often crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, so the best way to enjoy a leisurely look around is to come on a weekday morning and look around from the Cleaning Hall on the second floor.

  • Sakuyakonohanakan

Approximately 5,500 species of plants from all over the world are gathered here.
Sakuyakonohanakan is a steel-framed, all-glass building with two above-ground floors, a height of approximately 30m, a building area of approximately 4,750m2, and a total floor area of approximately 6,890m2, making it one of the largest greenhouses in Japan.

The exterior of this building was designed to resemble a water lily floating on the surface of the water, as the original landscape around Tsurumi Ryokuchi was a wetland. The name "Sakuya Konohanakan" was chosen through a public contest and is derived from an ancient poem from the Kokin Wakashū collection: "Nanatsu no tsu sakuya konohana fuyu hori, ima yau haru be to sakuya konohana."

Construction of the museum began in June 1987 (Showa 62) and the building was completed in March 1989 (Heisei 1). The interior of the museum consists of a multi-purpose flower hall in the center, where various events are held and which also serves as a rest area for visitors. Around this hall, plants native to various climate zones on Earth, from the tropics to the polar regions, are cultivated and exhibited.
