Toothpick Museum

The Toothpick Museum presents visitors with fascinating displays that are sure to surprise and inform, covering topics like the origin of toothpicks and the ancient (and deep) connection between toothpicks and toothbrushes.

Surprisingly enough to domestic visitors, the kind of rounded toothpick used in Japan to clean teeth isn’t used in that way anywhere else in the world. Toothpicks are used by every nation of the world, and there is far more than just one variety. For example, the rounded toothpick of Japan would be more familiar to people from other countries for its use in serving fruit or holding together sandwiches. The Japanese used rounded toothpicks where most people overseas would use flat or triangular ones. Why is it that these differences emerged? Why are Japanese toothpicks the way they are? At this museum, you’ll learn about different types of toothpicks from Japan and the world as well as how they are used. Come see what the Nordic countries, who have some of the best dental health in the world, choose for their toothpicks, and you too can become a toothpick guru. The Toothpick Museum is sure to surprise and inform, covering additional topics like the origin of toothpicks, the ancient (and deep) connection between toothpicks and toothbrushes, and the way toothpicks have been made across the eras. The museum has services for the English language (other languages will require an interpreter).
