Satsukiyama Park
Satsukiyama Park is a city park in Satsukigaoka, Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture, spreading from the foothills to the mid-slopes of Mt. Satsukiyama (315 m). It is known for seasonal scenery such as cherry blossoms, azaleas, and autumn leaves. The park features five hiking courses and observation points, and it has been selected as one of the “Osaka Green 100 Selections” thanks to its excellent views over the Osaka Plain. The park covers 68.65 hectares and is categorized as an urban-planning green space. Facilities include Satsukiyama Zoo, an urban greening botanical garden, a golf course, and the Green Center. The park also has a monument honoring children’s song lyricist Kume Higashi, commemorating the song “Hato Poppo.” In particular, Satsukiyama Zoo attracts many visitors from Ikeda and nearby municipalities. Admission to the zoo is free, and visitors can see animals such as wombats and wallabies native to Australia. The park also hosts events such as the “Sakura Festival” in early April and the “Gangara Fire Festival” in summer.
