Tatsumi Shrine

Tatsumi Shrine is located in Ikuno Ward, Osaka, and enshrines Emperor Ojin as its principal deity, along with several other Shinto gods. Situated about a 4-minute walk from Minami-Tatsumi Station on the Osaka Metro Sennichimae Line, the shrine was established in 1907 through the merger of several local shrines. The worship hall features a large sacred rope and ornate gold decorations. Amulets and talismans are sold at the shrine office, offering blessings for protection, business success, and family safety. During the summer and autumn festivals, danjiri floats are paraded through the neighborhood.

  • Toyokawa Inari within Tatsumi Shrine’s grounds is, strictly speaking, not a shrine but refers to a Soto Zen Buddhist temple located in Toyokawa Town, Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture. It is generally known as Toyokawa Inari, and it enshrines an Indian deity called Dakiniten. Toyokawa Inari in Aichi is also counted as one of Japan’s Three Great Inari shrines. At the Toyokawa Inari sub-shrine within Tatsumi Shrine, there are many vermilion torii gates, and walking through them surrounds you with a mysterious atmosphere. You can enjoy a torii tunnel in Osaka without going all the way to Kyoto.
