History dating back to the Heian Era

The Otori Taisha enshrines the deity Yamato Takeru. The shrine precincts span approximately 50,000 square meters and in the midst of its forests stands a pavilion built in the Taisha-zukuri style, 2nd oldest in Japan right after the Izumo Shrine.
An unusual octagonal pillar torii gate stands in front of the worship hall, with a 600-years old camphor tree standing east of the main shrine.
