INTEX Osaka
INTEX Osaka is one of Japan’s largest international exhibition centers, located in Sakishima (South Port), Suminoe Ward, Osaka City. Its official name is Osaka International Trade Fair Venue, and it is nicknamed “INTEX,” derived from “International Exhibition.” In Japan, it ranks third in total floor area after Tokyo Big Sight and Makuhari Messe. With 70,000㎡ of exhibition space, the venue includes the roofed open plaza “INTEX Plaza,” another plaza called “Sky Plaza,” the “Center Building” arranged around Sky Plaza, and Exhibition Halls 1 through 6. The Center Building contains an international conference hall seating 300, VIP rooms, and meeting rooms of various sizes. The facility’s roots trace back to 1954, when Japan’s first international trade fair (“Japan International Trade Fair”) was held; in 1956, a permanent venue called the Osaka International Trade Fair Port Venue was established on the former port-fairgrounds site and adjacent Osaka City athletic grounds. That port venue served as Osaka’s hub for large-scale trade fairs until it relocated to the current site in 1985.
