Chaska Chayamachi Tea House District
Chaska Chayamachi is a complex facility in Osaka’s Kita area, about a 10-minute walk from JR Osaka Station. Nearby are MBS (Mainichi Broadcasting System), Umeda Loft, and NU Chayamachi, among other businesses and complexes, and Chaska Chayamachi stands out with a distinctive exterior that combines boldness and delicacy. Built in 2010 under the concept of a “three-dimensional fusion city,” its exterior design is famously by world-renowned designer Tadao Ando. The facility includes commercial tenants such as a hotel and bookstores, as well as rental residences. Occupying floors B1 through B7, MARUZEN & Junkudo Bookstore is known for having one of Japan’s largest sales-floor areas, with over two million books. The sharp-pointed structure visible at the top is the chapel of the wedding hotel “Harmonie Embrassée Osaka,” an otherworldly space with a panoramic view that can feel as if it’s floating in the sky.
