体験詳細

Begin your journey at Tanimachi 9-chōme Station, where your guide leads you to the sacred grounds of Kōzu Shrine. Pass through the torii, ascend the stone steps toward the main hall, and meet your instructor—a practitioner of traditional sword arts.

After a formal Shinto ceremony and offering (tamagushi hōten), begin your training in the shrine’s Kongi-den ceremonial hall, the same sacred space where countless rituals have been performed for generations.

In the 2-hour experience, train under an experienced sword instructor who guides you through the basics of kenjutsu, including posture, cutting forms, and breathing techniques that embody the calm strength of the samurai spirit. This session focuses on learning the etiquette and discipline that unite physical technique with mental stillness, offering even first-time learners an authentic introduction to Japan’s martial and spiritual heritage.

The 4-hour advanced course, led by a true Sword Master—a teacher who has operated his own dojo and trained extensively in practical swordsmanship—goes far deeper. Under his instruction, practice more advanced movements, gain insight into the deeper philosophy of bushidō, and have the rare opportunity to observe a real Japanese sword (shinken) up close.

Each stage of training begins and ends with a bow toward the enshrined deity, symbolizing gratitude and humility. At the conclusion of both courses, receive a Goshuin (shrine seal) as a sacred memento of your experience, and your instructor will see you off with respect and encouragement.
